Why do you charge for preparing a book? Don't most publishers do it for free?

We do offer free services in exchange for a larger percent of royalty. However our preferred method of operation is to have the author pay as we go. The author then has the choice of self-publishing, using us as the publisher or seeking another publisher. The percent of royalty we keep is directly dependent on how much work we had to do and how much or little we were paid to do it. Bottom line: The more you pay us to edit your work, the more royalties you keep. If you decide to use us as your publisher, we will charge a small portion of the royalties. In most cases, the author will keep between 70-95% of royalties.

How soon will I hear back about my submission?

We don't have a huge team with hundreds of editors and proofreaders. However, you should hear back from us within a week of your submission.

Why did you decide not to publish a work?

Anything published by Robeson House Press must meet certain quality standards and be family-friendly. Books containing gratuitous sex scenes, obscene language or graphic descriptions of violence will not be accepted for publication under our imprint. We also will not publish anything that offends normal standards of decency, condones violence or offends our staff.

One of our guides to whether a book is acceptable for publication is found in Philippians 4:8 King James Version (KJV)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on (publish) these things.
